Community volunteers and sewing groups create one-of-a-kind teddy bears for children with a one-of-a-kind rare disease. They send them to Rare Science. Rare Science receives these ‘Rare Bears’ and gives them to children with rare diseases to raise awareness and funds. Our ASG Chapter is have a community service Sew Along on August 27th from 10am to 4pm at the SELBY LIBRARY located at 1331 1ST STREET, SARASOTA FL. Contact Paulette Braga 941-807-0915 if you would like to attend or can help promote the event. There will be jobs for everyone who comes. If you are not bringing your sewing machine, you can help us cut out patterns, select fabric and press the finished bears. Bring your lunch and a beverage. Kids’ Fishing Clinics are free, one-day educational events for kids ages 5-15.  At the clinics, the children go through five mandatory skill stations: Casting, Knot Tying, Fishing Tackle, Ethical Angling, and Touch Tank. After approximately one hour of instruction, children will receive a free rod and reel (compliments of local sponsors, while supplies last) and, if conditions allow, will have the opportunity to fish (catch and release only).  All participants must be accompanied by an adult.
