Everyone is encouraged to attend. SARTQ: SMALL WORKS features about twenty-five pieces from twelve artists. This exhibitions conception began when Tim Jaeger, SARTQ Executive Director, and Rae Ramos, [blank] slate gallery’s Associate Director, met on Ringling Colleges campus discussing how to get the two fairly new art entities more exposure in the arts scene in Sarasota and its surrounding areas. [blank] slate gallery first opened their doors in late 2014 in the trendy Historic Burns Court neighborhood of Sarasota. In 2016, the gallery moved to a larger space a block away to offer a more accessible location for the community and to expand its wonderful collection of modern and contemporary artwork from emerging and established artists http://www.blankslategallery.com and to include fine jewelry, artisan jewelry and designer fashion for men and women. Ramos, who organized the exhibition, was familiar with most of SARTQs artist’s works in large scale. I wanted to see their works in small scale and if their aesthetics would change when working smaller. I’ve seen some fascinating works that are out of the norm from the participating artists and were really excited to display them at the gallery. Artists participating: Jeffery Cornwell, Elena De La Ville, Zachary Gilliland, Joni Younkins-Herzog, Tim Jaeger, Cassia Kite, Jenny Medved, Laine Nixon, Vicky Randall, Javier Rodriguez, Steven Strenk, and Jill Taffet.
